Beautiful Summer Wedding at University of Charleston | West Virginia Wedding Photographer

“Let’s all leave here today inspired to love each other well”- are the words of the minister left us with at Amanda and David’s wedding. At the end of the day, love is the most important thing, and loving each other well is the greatest thing we can do in life.

With a brass quintet playing in the background, these two tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony overlooking the State Capitol at University of Charleston at the beautiful Erma Byrd Gallery. David’s son, Duncan, walked with him to the altar; while Amanda’s son, Elliot, walked her down the aisle (how adorable!). The minister, a long-time friend of the bride, shared some memories from Amanda and Dave’s first date and some other fun facts about the couple. Mark, David’s brother, and his wife played piano and sang a beautiful song. Their nieces read a wedding poem before the couple’s unity ceremony with their boys. To keep it whimsical, the unity ceremony was a science experiment turning water purple. The children watched with big eyes and thought it was pure magic!

The ceremony was so intimate and so personal, filled with fond memories and laughter, perfectly reflecting who they are as individuals and a couple. Family and friends surrounded Amanda and Dave as they exchanged vows they wrote. They shared the qualities they love about each other and promised to be patient with each other’s flaws, complement each other’s strengths and love each other well.

Amanda and Dave’s vision for the wedding day was for the sun to be shining, for it to be warm, and bright, and to be surrounded by their loved ones. Well, their wishes came true! It was one of the hottest days of the year. Temperatures were high, but the spirit of the couple and their guests were even higher. Everyone was so supportive, understanding, and patient throughout the portraits time and the entire day. It was everything Amanda and Dave could hope for!

The rest of the day was filled with well-wishes, great food prepared by Amanda’s dad, mingling and dancing. Amanda and Dave kept the whimsy going with a delicious wedding cake accompanied by moon pies (in honor of moon landing 50th anniversary, and because they spent one of their first dated stargazing) and everything bagel spice mix (see their engagement story here) as favors.

Amanda and Dave, you two are so perfect for one another! It was a joy to witness the love you have for each other and your sweet boys! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of one of the most important moments in your life! I wish you nothing but the best, and I hope you love your wedding photos as much as I do!
